Be aware of scams and hackers that try to steals your WoW account info!

Do the above WoW in-game message looks familiar to you? If so, you know these messages are sent from people that try to scam you for your WoW account information and use it to hack your WoW account, and these scam messages need to be reported to Blizzard.

This is a warning to all WoW players, especially to new WoW players. Please be aware of the existence of scams and hackers. You need to know that Blizzard will NEVER EVER message you in game, not unless you're expecting to talk to a GM (game master). Any message from Blizzard will be posted on the Blizzard site, or on log in screen, or the on game message as you log into the game.

The common scams from these hackers are to message you in-game to want you to go visit their site. Most of the time, their site will make it looks like a Blizzard site to make you think you're on a legit Blizzard site. Then it'll ask you for your account name and your pass word. Once you're giving them out, you account will guarantee to be hack.

They will take everything from your characters, sell everything off for gold and leave you with Nothing. And they will do that on just about every characters you have across different WoW servers. All the gold and stuff they steal from you, they usually will sell them off to make more gold so that they can sell WoW gold online for real money. This is why Blizzard has a ban on buying on line WoW gold policy. Blizzard will suspend you or even ban you from WoW for anyone who's caught buying gold online.

These hackers are getting more and more cleaver in scams. They will use in game player names that contain WoW or Blizzard in it to make it look convincing, like the name above~ Usblizzwow. And their site names usually will contain WoW or Blizzard name to disguise themselves as a legit Blizzard site. I had a scammed message that the person posing as a GM! And the message looks like this:

[Game Master]GM: Your world of warcraft account has been temporarily suspened. go to http://www. xxxxxxxxxx.com/wow.html for further information

A very cleaver and convincing deception message! DO NOT FALL FOR IT!!!

Stories of people who have been hacked.

I hear horror stories of hacked account all the time. This happen just recently to an online friend of mine. His account was somehow got hacked 2 months, and not only they took everything from him. The hackers use his characters to steal stuff from the guild bank as well. They even use his account to buy gold online and got his account suspended by Blizzard. That's how he found out he got hacked. And just last week he received an email saying that he needs to change his WoW account to the one they've given him. The email looks like from Blizzard and sure enough, he got hacked again the second time. Clean out his toons yet again and the guild bank too.

This happen to someone that we know in real life. He fell for one of those message saying he won a free pet from Blizzard. He visited the site that looked like Blizzard site. It asked him for his account and pass word. It was late and he was tired and didn't think twice and gave the info. Not only they took everything from his toons and guild bank, they even transferred his toon to another server! And had my friend paid for the character transfer!

I talked to someone recently who had similar experience. The hacker locked him out of the authenticator so that he can not log in while they're stealing his stuff. Luckily he caught them in the middle of transferring his toon to another server to give gold to who ever on that server.

So please beware of the scams that exist in game for hackers that are trying to steal your account information. Anytime you get an in game message that ask you to visit a site, DON'T FALL FOR IT. No matter how tempting or convincing the message may be! Report their message to Blizzard. Do Not Even go visit their sites, it is unsafe! If you happened to go to their sites, scan your computer for virus!
